3 When the German forces capitulated in May 1945 Scarlett-Streatfield was given the honour of accepting their surrender in Norway. With his Norwegian liaison officer Major Petter Cato Juliebø, he took off from RAF Great Dunmow at 0355 hours flying to Oslo aboard Short Stirling IV (LK297) of 190 Squadron RAF. On 10 May 1945 his aircraft disappeared without trace in extremely bad weather conditions. On 21 June 1945 the wreckage of his aircraft, the remains of its crew, AVM Scarlett-Streatfield and the paratroopers accompanying him were located at Andtjernâsen in the hills near Oslo, it had crashed into the hillside and exploded.

5 Law-Wright was the pilot of a Halifax which took off from Tarrant Rushton at 2235 on 2 April 1945 for ‘Stirrup 14’ an SOE mission to Norway. The aircraft was shot up over Lista and crashed at Kalleberg near Farsund. The crew were all killed and are buried at Vanse Churchyard.

12 In Operation ‘Overlord’, the 5th Parachute Brigade was assigned the task of securing two road bridges across the River Orne and the Caen Canal, Operation ‘Deadstick’. Poett jumped on D-Day at 0019 hours with the pathfinders and a small team. At 0050 hours Poett made contact with Lieutenant Sweeney at Horsa Bridge, he then made his way to the Pegasus Bridge and Major Howard.

13 Working for Toronto Hydro, he died in an electrical accident on 31 May 1974 at the age of fifty-six.
